Rare Studio

RARE StudioRare Studio is a performing arts school based in Liverpool City Centre. The school is a registered charity enabling students who successfully gain a place on audition, to train regardless of their personal circumstances or financial background. We will only take students who we genuinely think are capable of progressing onto Higher Education, further Vocational training or working professionally in the industry.

We offer specialist training in Dance, Acting, Singing and Musical Theatre alongside an Artist Development Programme for Singer Songwriters. Our students can access up to 30 hours per week of technical training with additional support and mentoring.
Teachers at Rare are current industry professionals who are experts in their field. Our team are dedicated to our young people and are instrumental in their development and progression.

With direct links to some of the world’s biggest agents, producers, choreographers and casting directors we are able to offer students direct links to the professional world. These people support the school wholeheartedly and more importantly our ethos which is based on ‘the ability of the student, not the ability to pay fees. If you can’t pay you don’t pay, it’s that simple’.

Recent Rare graduates have gone on to study at some of the top schools and conservatoires in the UK including RADA, Mountview, Guildhall, LAMDA, LIPA, Bird College, Performers College, The Urdang Academy, Millennium Performing Arts, Northern School of Contemporary Dance and Hammond School.
In addition to our full time courses we run a scholarship programme offering 1 dance student per year the opportunity to train at Broadway Dance Centre in NY and 2 dance graduates to train during summer at The Edge, Millennium and Debbie Reynolds in LA. From 2016 there will also be a scholarship programme for singer songwriters and actors.

Our students are exceptionally talented and achieve a place at Rare based on audition, but many of them are from difficult circumstances, including being in the care system, being excluded from school, at risk of becoming a NEET (Not in Employment, Education or Training), from low income and/or single parent families, or families affected by drug or alcohol addictions. Many of our students are talented, but sometimes struggle to even get the bus fare together to get in to classes, or are dealing with complex issues at home.

We are honored to be working alongside our European partners on the NiCer project. As part of this project we are expanding our provision to work with a wider range of people on this Refugee project. We aim to reach out to difficult communities and people from different cultural backgrounds who may not normally have access to such projects. We are looking forward to welcoming our partners to Liverpool in 2017!
